FAQ
Is there a hybrid option for the modules?
We are currently offering our modules in-person only. While we recognize the convenience and cost-effectiveness of a hybrid or online-only learning model, we believe in-person learning lends itself best to the training's desired outcomes, which includes:
-
working with the specific health & safety needs of the perinatal population
-
creating meaningful connections and a safe learning environment
-
developing adequate teaching skills appropriate to working with this population
If you are coming in from out of town, we can provide recommendations for nearby accommodations within your budget upon request. Email amalayogaschool@gmail.com with any travel-related questions.
Do I need to be registered with the Yoga Alliance?
Nope! As long as you have a certification of completion of 200 hours (or more) of yoga teacher training from an accredited training program, you're good. If you are registered with the Yoga Alliance and would like to add the RPYT (Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher) designation, you may submit a request to us for approval after completing 30 hours of teaching prenatal yoga.
Do I have to take all of the modules?
To receive the certification required to teach prenatal yoga in your community, yes. However, if you are a perinatal or women's health professional, or interested in information from a specific module for yourself or your work, you may choose which modules you take.
Can I complete the other modules another year?
Hypothetically yes, though we cannot guarantee a cohort will run every year.
Can I pay using a payment plan?
We understand it's a big investment -- if you don't want to pay for the full training all at once, you can register per module.
Do I need to have been pregnant or had a baby to be a prenatal yoga teacher?
Absolutely not! There is no life-experience prerequisite, and your ability to effectively teach pre/postnatal yoga does not depend on whether you have kids or even want kids.
Is this program for women only?
Absolutely not! This program is open to people of all gender identities, and does not require you to have a uterus and/or identify as female. While we will be discussing women's health in general, we recognize that not all women have a uterus and not all uterus-havers identify as women. All genders belong in the perinatal space.
Is this a yoga therapy program?
While you will be learning how to work therapeutically to support the health and wellbeing of a specialized population, this program does not certify you as a yoga therapist, or any other kind of therapist or healthcare practitioner. You must complete the proper training/schooling required for those types of certifications or licensures. Yoga and yoga therapy may support, but may not replace, clinical healthcare services.
How do I get to this training?
Yogaview is located at 1231 Green Bay Rd, in Wilmette, IL.
